Terpsichorean Tuesdays: The Broadway Melody Ballet

Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse's foot

Would you LOOK at Cyd Charisse’s so-far-beyond-perfect-it-makes-me-want-to-cry foot?!?

Here we have the jazzy duet section in The Broadway Melody Ballet from Singin’ in the Rain (1952). It’s beyond words.  He’s wonderful, buoyant and masculine and powerful, but she slays me. Those legs! That smolder! Exquisite, beautiful dynamite.

Watching this video today, I kept being surprised to see little bits of choreography I’ve stolen from it and put in my shows over the years.  Oops.  Don’t tell Gene.  But how could anyone ever blame me?

Enjoy this latest Terp Tuesday!  It’s just marvelous.
